The January 2026 issue of Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly (Volume 43, Issue 1) is now available, presenting a diverse collection of scholarly work addressing current research, practice, and policy issues in adapted physical activity, disability sport, and inclusion.

This issue opens with a Viewpoint article examining the classification system in Para Judo, focusing on recent transitions, performance-related outcomes, and future challenges for the sport. The Original Research section includes studies that span methodological, psychosocial, pedagogical, and performance-based perspectives. Topics addressed include creative nonfiction as a method to illustrate the sport experiences of girls and women with disabilities; theoretical models predicting physical activity among adults with physical disabilities; psychological performance determinants in wheelchair basketball; and adapted physical education teachers’ perceptions of parents of children with disabilities.

Additional contributions explore provider training competencies in community-based exercise programs, participation experiences of individuals with visual impairments in adapted and nonadapted group exercise settings, performance outcomes associated with the new judo classification system for athletes with visual impairments, and biomechanical analysis related to maximum strength in Para powerlifting. The issue also includes a book review focused on first-person accounts of disability experiences in physical education.
