Just published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Brett Smith and colleagues have written an editorial to underline the importance of considering disabilities when addressing the way physical activity and sedentary behaviour messages are portrayed.
Titled, “Disability, the communication of physical activity and sedentary behaviour, and ableism: a call for inclusive messages”, Brett Smith, Kamran Mallick, Javier Monforte and Charlie Foster outline some of the issues the public health messages are created and the need to make them more inclusive. The editorial covers are three sections; What is Ableism, Language Matters, and A call for more inclusive messaging.
