Concepción, Chile, hosted the III Interuniversity Conference on Adapted Physical Activity and V Symposium on Adapted Physical Activity on 21–22 August 2026, bringing together the academic and local community to promote inclusion, collaboration, and access to physical activity and sport.

The event was jointly organised by Universidad de Las Américas, Universidad de Concepción, and Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción. Students, academics, health and education professionals, athletes, families, and representatives from public and private organisations participated in lectures, presentations, and practical workshops.

Keynote speakers included Dr Matías Henríquez Valenzuela, Dr Claudio Farías Valenzuela, Rodrigo Gaete, and Pierre Bereaud, addressing Para sport, physical fitness, intellectual disability, high-performance sport, and adapted tennis. Local professionals also presented good practices and community initiatives in adapted physical activity.

Several regional and national organisations contributed to practical activities, including HSR Concepción, Gran Bulls Concepción, Tenis Adaptado Concepción, Frame Runner Chile, and Newcom “Generación en Movimiento”.

The event strengthened interdisciplinary and interinstitutional cooperation around inclusive opportunities for physical activity and sport. IFAPA recognises initiatives that connect research, professional practice, education, and community participation in adapted physical activity.
