Applications are now open for the position of Para-Sport and Classification Advisor, a joint role serving the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and the Northern Territory Sport Academy (NTSA). Based in Brisbane, this is a contract position running until 30 June 2026, with responsibilities split between QAS (80%) and NTSA (20%).
The Advisor will support the advancement of Paralympic sport by providing localized classification education, insights, and services to athletes, coaches, and support staff. This role is part of a broader effort to contribute to Australia’s High Performance 2032+ Para System Uplift goals through collaboration, capacity building, and problem-solving in performance environments.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver para-sport and classification education to athletes, coaches, and stakeholders.

Provide insights to support talent identification, talent transfer, and performance planning.

Build and maintain networks of allied health professionals across SISSAS facilities.

Support athletes in classification preparation, including coordination of required documentation and assessments.

Participate as a Classifier Support Person during international classifications when appropriate.

Lead the facilitation of local classification initiatives, including hosting events and creating communities of practice.

Advise on accessibility and universal design matters related to program operations.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should have:

Experience in para-sport classification (preferred) or a solid understanding of classification procedures.

Background in performance sport environments and familiarity with support services.

Proven ability to educate and collaborate with athletes, coaches, and multidisciplinary teams.

Skills in handling confidential information, stakeholder engagement, and operational planning.

Willingness to travel nationally and occasionally internationally, including weekends.
Tertiary qualifications in allied health, education, or sport science are desirable. A valid Working with Children Check is required.
