The 17th International Symposium for Olympic and Paralympic Research will take place from February 18 to 20, 2026, in Naples, Italy. The event is organized by the International Centre for Olympic Studies (ICOS) at Western University in partnership with Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli.

This edition will focus on the theme “The Games in a Digital World: Human Flourishing, Olympic Values and Sustainability in the Age of AI.” The symposium will explore how digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and emerging platforms are transforming sport, athlete experience, governance, inclusion, and sustainability within the Olympic and Paralympic contexts.

Contributions are invited from a range of academic fields, including history, sociology, sport management, cultural studies, and political science. Submissions may include individual papers or proposals for thematic sessions that promote interdisciplinary dialogue.
