The International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA) has officially joined the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) in a strategic commitment to enhance global efforts in inclusive sport and adapted physical activity.
This new collaboration is based on two core commitments:
Commitment to Strengthening Global Collaboration for Inclusive Sport:
IFAPA and ICSSPE have committed to expanding partnerships worldwide to support research-based and applied initiatives in adapted physical activity and inclusive sports. This partnership seeks active collaboration with disability organizations, sports federations, international agencies, and higher education institutions. The goal is to eliminate participation barriers and ensure equitable access to physical activity, thereby creating a more inclusive sports environment that respects and promotes the rights and dignity of all individuals with disabilities.
Commitment to Policy Advocacy and Implementation:
The organizations have pledged their support to advocate for integrating adapted physical activity into disability and sports policies at the national and international levels. IFAPA and ICSSPE will collaborate closely with governments, United Nations agencies, universities, and NGOs to offer evidence-based policy recommendations. Their joint efforts aim to establish inclusive frameworks that ensure sustainable and accessible physical activity opportunities, fostering equitable participation in sports and physical education for persons with disabilities globally.
Through this alliance, IFAPA and ICSSPE aim to significantly advance inclusive sports and adapted physical activity, creating lasting impacts on communities worldwide.
