Dr. Robert Steadward will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Mount Royal University (MRU) during the Faculty of Health, Community and Education convocation ceremony on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The recognition highlights his longstanding contributions to sport, disability rights, and inclusive education.
Dr. Steadward is widely recognized as a leading advocate for the development of adapted physical activity and Paralympic sport worldwide. He was the founding president of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), playing a key role in uniting global efforts to support athletes with disabilities and advance sport as a tool for inclusion. His work has helped shape international policies and programs that promote access, equity, and visibility for individuals with disabilities in sport and physical activity.
