The 2018 North American Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (NAFAPA) symposium was held at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon October 1st through 3rd. Over 200 faculty, students, and associated professionals within the field were in attendance. Approximately 180 presentations were given in a variety of formats including verbal sessions, posters, thematic poster, and building sessions.
NAFAPA board elections were held during this year’s symposium. Dr. JK Yun, professor at Oregon State, is now president-elect of NAFAPA and will serve as president following the conclusion of Mississippi State associate professor Stamatis Agiovlasitis’ term in 2020. Iva Obrusnikova, associate professor at the University of Delaware, was selected to serve as NAFAPA’s representative to the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA).
The next NAFAPA symposium is slated for mid-October, 2020. and will be held at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. Exact dates for the event are to be announced.
