On 28th April 2023, the Executive Board of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education under its President Dr Uri Schaefer announced the appointment of Mr Patrick Stolpmann as ICSSPE’s new Executive Director. Mr Stolpmann will follow Detlef Dumon who held this position for more than 16 years and asked the President to accept his wish to resign.
A strengthening relationship is maintained between the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA) and ICSSPE based on collaboration and shared values such as the inclusive perspective in sport for all. On behalf of IFAPA, we would like to thank you Detlef Dumon for your service over these years as Executive Director. In addition, we wish the best to Mr. Patrick Stolpmann in his new role and we look forward to continuing working and collaborating.
Patrick Stolpmann is a seasoned senior executive with corporate and non-profit experience who has a proven track record in strategic planning, corporate development, transformation, and technology. He joins ICSSPE after almost a decade at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Patrick Stolpmann said: “I am very excited about the opportunity to serve ICSSPE as the new Executive Director and my thanks goes out to the President and Executive Board for the trust, they bestowed in me. I look forward to further shaping the development of the organisation and to enable ICSSPE to continue delivering its mission.
The ICSSPE President and Patrick Stolpmann signed the contract on 28th April 2023 in the presence of ICSSPE Honorary President Prof. Dr Gudrun Doll-Tepper, Vice President Prof. Dr Annette Hofmann, and Executive Board member Dr Gerald Fritz. Following the signing of the contract, Uri Schaefer complemented: “We thank Detlef Dumon wholeheartedly, for his commitment, reflectiveness, his leadership, and his personal care for the well-being of all of us. For this, we will always remember him.”
Detlef Dumon expressed his gratitude for the confidence that the Executive Board and the President had placed in him. “As I have said earlier, this position was a dream position. I wish Mr Stolpmann all the best for his new tasks.” Patrick Stolpmann will start his new position on 1st September 2023. Detlef Dumon will continue to serve as a consultant to ICSSPE.
