Applicants who will have completed a master’s degree by the summer of 2025 and have research interests in physical education, motor development, or physical activity are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to those who submit their applications by January 15th, with a final deadline of February 15th. Meeting these deadlines may also make applicants eligible for financial support.

Required application materials include official transcripts (with a GPA of 3.5 or above), a writing sample, three letters of recommendation, a recent CV/resume, a statement of goals, and proof of English language proficiency (for international applicants). Applicants with research experience in physical education, applied health education, motor development, or K-12 instructional experience in related fields are especially encouraged to apply.

Accepted on-campus students will receive a tuition waiver. Competitive applicants may also qualify for graduate teaching or research assistant positions with a monthly stipend. Students in good academic standing who meet the requirements of the College of Education and Human Development will have opportunities for conference travel. The on-campus doctoral program follows a 4-year study plan, with Dr. Hairui (Harry) Liu serving as the major adviser, and will start in Fall 2025.
