The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has joined forces with YouTube to ensure that the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be the most accessible in history. Through this partnership, content will be freely available to users across 175 markets and territories worldwide, significantly expanding the reach and visibility of the Games.
From August 28 to September 8, the Paralympics YouTube channel will offer its most comprehensive coverage ever, including live action, replays, highlights, athlete features, and more. This initiative complements the work of over 160 official broadcasters, ensuring that audiences have access to the Games across multiple platforms.
Key features of the YouTube coverage include nearly 1,400 hours of live coverage from all 22 Paralympic sports, the introduction of the Multiview feature, and over 1,200 clips of daily highlights. Additionally, close to 400 YouTube Shorts and 40 athlete feature films will be produced throughout the Games.
The IPC has also prepared a series of educational and engaging films to build excitement for the event. These include animated guides to Paralympic sports, insights into the preparations of top Para athletes, and stories highlighting the transformative power of Paralympic sports.
Mike Peters, IPC Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that it will engage new audiences and provide unparalleled access to the performances of Paralympians. Pedro Pina, Vice President of YouTube Europe, Middle East, and Africa, highlighted the role of YouTube as a global platform to celebrate and be inspired by the athletes of the Paralympic Games.
