An interesting collaboration between the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), The International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF), and Loughborough University funded the research project titled: “Clean Sport in International Cerebral Palsy Football”. The principal goal of the project is to develop an understanding of the role of athlete support personnel in influencing clean sport culture(s) within international cerebral palsy football.

Moreover, the project is looking for:

  • Striving towards clean sport across all parasport domains, through empowerment and knowledge for everyone involved
  • Promoting clean sports strategies to inform fair, safe practice across IFCPF and other parasport contexts
  • Understand perceptions, beliefs, opinions, and motives of cerebral palsy football players and their athlete support personnel regarding clean sports behaviors
  • Give voice to those involved in IFCPF to enhance understanding and knowledge of the clean sport

The research group is inviting participating football players with cerebral palsy, and athlete support personnel to a make single interview led by a Loughborough University Researcher, with 60-80 minutes in duration and a translator/chaperone presence if necessary.

The requisites to participate are to be a Football Player with cerebral palsy, of all genders, have an elite standard, and be 18 years and over from one of the 51 member nations of the IFCPF. For athlete support personnel for football players with cerebral palsy, the requisites for participation are people of all genders, have an elite standard, and be 18 years and over from one of the 51 member nations of the IFCPF.

The focus of the interview is to discuss perspectives on how athlete support personnel influence clean sports behaviors and cultures.
