The UNESCO sports section and The Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) extend the invitation to attend an online launch event broadcast live from the margins of the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 77).
The field of sport for development is entering a period of strong innovation, especially thanks to the development of novel outcomes-based financing solutions, which offer the possibility to scale up funding across sectors, build social return-on-investment data, and bring the sport to those most in need.
Recognizing this potential, UNESCO and CAF are partnering to pilot a Social Outcomes Contract (SOC), in Santiago, Chile, targeting the priority areas of disability, equal access, and inclusion in physical activity and sport, in conjunction with the 2023 Panam and Parapanam games.
This pilot implementation will create real opportunities for inclusion in sport, while building local data, and scaling up sport for development investment in Latin America as part of the Social and Human Sciences sports initiative Fit for Life.
The date of the event is 20 September 2022 from 10:30-12:00 (GMT-4) and will consider live translation in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Headline is composed by Gabriela Ramos Assistant Director General for Social and Human Sciences, UNESCO and Sergio Díaz-Granados Executive President, CAF.
