The Journal of Teaching in Physical Education (JTPE) has announced a call for papers for a forthcoming special issue titled “Perspectives on Physical Education with Students with Disabilities from Latin American Countries.” This special issue will be edited by Dr. Oscar Núñez Enríquez (Illinois State University, USA) and Dr. Fabián Arroyo-Rojas (Hofstra University, USA).

The special issue aims to highlight and strengthen scholarly work focused on physical education and related interventions for school-aged students with disabilities within Latin American contexts. While research in this area has grown steadily in the region over the past two decades, much of the international literature remains dominated by perspectives from the Global North. This initiative seeks to increase the visibility of research grounded in the social, cultural, political, and educational realities of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Submissions may include qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods studies that address physical education, adapted physical activity, and related fields in school settings across Latin America. The issue will prioritize research that is critical, inclusive, and student-centered, and that contributes to teaching practice, teacher education, and educational policy.

For this special issue, full manuscripts will be submitted and published exclusively in Spanish or Portuguese, with titles, abstracts, and keywords provided in both English and Spanish or Portuguese. Abstracts of up to 500 words are due in March 2026, with anticipated publication in the fourth quarter of 2027.

Abstracts should be submitted directly to the guest editors by email. Detailed submission guidelines, timelines, and eligibility criteria are outlined in the official call for papers document. Researchers and educators working in physical education and disability studies are encouraged to submit and to share this call within their professional networks.
