The University of Virginia has funding for two doctoral students in APE (we call it Kinesiology for Individuals with Disabilities) starting in the fall of 2020. Our ideal candidate is someone who has 2 or more years teaching APE and is interested in learning how to do research to answer practical questions.

Currently we have research projects on

(1) various aspects of teaching children with ASD, and

(2) training current and future PE teachers for inclusion.

Many of our doctoral students create their own research projects based on their interests and experiences.

Doctoral students are fully funded including payment of all tuition and fees, payment of health insurance, and a stipend of $25,000 per year. Email Dr. Martin Block (IFAPA Past President) if you are interested or just want to learn more about our program and requirements.
