A recording of the recent event held at the Saville Centre honoring the career and contributions of Dr. Bob Steadward is now available. The ceremony recognized Dr. Steadward’s long-standing impact on the development of the Paralympic movement and his contributions to research and education in sport for persons with disabilities.
The event opened with a formal acknowledgement of Treaty 6 territory and the homeland of the Métis. Speakers included Grand Chief Willie Littlechild, Bill Flanagan, President of the University of Alberta, Lois Mitchell, former Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, and Kira Pike, Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. Each highlighted Dr. Steadward’s leadership, academic contributions, and commitment to advancing opportunities for athletes with disabilities.
The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the “Steadward Paralympic Journey” display, celebrating his role in shaping inclusive sport worldwide.
