Responsibilities: Teach and implement high-impact educational practices in a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in the Adapted Physical Activity Curriculum. Additional teaching responsibilities could include teaching in one of the undergraduate major concentrations and/or within the newly designed and proposed University Wellness requirement.
Serve as the Adapted Physical Activity graduate program director with responsibilities including, but not limited to, recruitment and advisement of students, monitoring and implementation of procedures for graduate education, and working with the department faculty, chair, and dean of the College of Education regarding academic graduate activities.
Actively participate in scholarly activity, including but not limited to, presenting at local, regional, and national meetings and conferences, submitting peer-reviewed research, as well as, developing and submitting grant proposals. Participate in undergraduate and graduate student advising, and serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
Additional responsibilities may include directing the Slippery Rock University Transition Achievement Program (TAP) and Work-Based Learning Program (WBLE). Oversee current grants and contracts and secure sustenance for programs through continued grant applications.
The Physical and Health Education department offers two degree programs, a BS in Health and Physical Education with concentrations in Physical Activity and Fitness Management, as well as,School Wellness Education, and a MS in Adapted Physical Activity. Slippery Rock University is part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education with a student population of over 8000 and a Carnegie Basic Classification Category of Master’s Colleges & Universities: Larger Programs (Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher
Education, 2017).
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Adapted Physical Activity or Adapted Physical Education is required prior to the start of Spring 2019, as well as, experience in teaching at the university-level. Candidates are required to participate in a successful on-campus interview that includes a teaching demonstration.
