The Adaptive Sport and Physical Activity Special Interest Group of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) will host a webinar titled Inside the Deaflympics: Sport, Culture, and Mental Performance on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM Eastern Time.

Organized in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Deaflympics, this event will bring together experienced panelists to examine the historical, cultural, and psychological dimensions of Deaf sport. Presenters include Jeffrey Mansfield (President, US Deaf Sports Federation), Allie Galoob (Head Coach, Seattle Reign Academy and Coordinator, U.S. Deaf Women’s National Soccer Team), and Dr. Becky Clark (Team Director, USADSF Performance Psychology).

Topics to be discussed include the history and global impact of the Deaflympics, communication and cultural considerations unique to Deaf athletes, and mental performance strategies that support inclusion, resilience, and athlete well-being.

The session is open to professionals, students, and practitioners interested in adapted sport, mental performance, and inclusive practices.
