A new special issue of Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly (APAQ) is now accepting abstracts under the theme “Para Sport & Paralympic Sport in a Global Context: Evidence and Practice in Participation, Performance, and Classification.” The issue will be guest edited by Dr. Rafael Lima Kons (Federal University of Bahia, Brazil), Dr. Matías Henríquez (Santo Tomás University, Chile), and Dr. Luiz Gustavo Santos (Brazilian Paralympic Committee, Brazil).

The special issue invites interdisciplinary research addressing current challenges and future directions in Para and Paralympic sport. Topics include participation, performance, evidence-based classification, accessibility, inclusion, athlete development, coaching, technology, policy, gender equity, and sociocultural aspects of Para sport. Contributions from underrepresented regions, including the Global South, Africa, Asia, Latin America, Oceania, and Europe, are particularly encouraged.

The initiative aims to strengthen international collaboration and contribute to the scientific legacy leading to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games by highlighting innovative research and practical applications that support the continued development of Para sport worldwide.

The abstract submission deadline is 20 October 2026, with full manuscripts due by 12 December 2026. Authors are invited to submit abstracts and direct inquiries to the guest editors.
