The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is seeking a dedicated professional to join its team as the Para Unit Lead. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of future Paralympic medal-winning athletes and drive high-performance outcomes in Para sports.

Position Overview
The Para Unit Lead will collaborate with sports organizations and the broader sport system to systematically select and nurture elite athletes across various Para sports. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing Queensland’s reputation as a leader in Paralympic sport by shaping athlete pathways for the 2028 and 2032 Paralympic Games.

Position Details

  • Location: Brisbane – South
  • Position Type: Full-time, contract until 28 February 2027 (with possible extension)
  • Salary Range: $129,089 – $138,273 per year ($147,278 – $157,756 total remuneration package)
  • Closing Date: 14 January 2025

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the QAS Para Unit in identifying and supporting medal-potential athletes.
  • Develop and implement robust Athlete Plans aligned with eligibility, classification, and sport-specific frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders, including Paralympics Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport, on talent development strategies.
  • Monitor athlete progress and ensure timely support in alignment with performance goals.
  • Collaborate with QAS teams to design talent search initiatives and enhance Para coach development.
