IFAPA invites nominations for its awards and Fellow recognition program. These initiatives honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of adapted physical activity through research, service, and leadership.

IFAPA Fellows Program

The IFAPA Fellows Program recognizes members who have demonstrated sustained excellence in scholarship and service. Eligible nominees must be current IFAPA members with at least five years of professional involvement and meet at least three specific criteria, including significant contributions to professional literature, leadership activities, and community service.

  • Nomination Process: Candidates must be nominated by an IFAPA member, with the nomination deadline extended to January 31, 2025.
  • Selection Process: An 8-member Nominations Committee reviews submissions and recommends selections to the IFAPA President. Final decisions will be made by March 31, 2025.

The Elly D. Friedmann Awards

These awards honor the legacy of Dr. Elly D. Friedmann, a pioneer in adapted physical activity. Established in her memory, the awards celebrate contributions to the field.

  • The Elly D. Friedmann Professional Contribution Award: Recognizes individuals who embody Dr. Friedmann’s dedication to movement education and rehabilitation.
  • Young Professional Award: Celebrates young professionals (under 40 years old) demonstrating innovation and inspiration in adapted physical activity. Two awards will be presented at the upcoming International Symposium on Adapted Physical Activity (ISAPA): one for a professional from the host region and one open to all eligible candidates.
  • Deadline for Both Awards: Nominations must be submitted by March 31, 2025.
