With profound sadness, we would inform about the loss of Prof. Kyonosuke Yabe this year 2022. Professor, Dr. Kyonosuke Yabe was an honorary professor at Nagoya University. He was the first Representative of the Asian Society for Adapted Physical Education and Exercise (ASAPE) during 1986-1991 and the first President of ASAPE in the period of 1991-1994.
Dr. Kyonosuke Yabe was Associated Professor of St. Margaret Junior College (1970 – 1972), director and researcher of the Institute of Developmental Research, Prefectural Colony for persons with disability Aichi (1972–1985), Professor of Research Center of Health, Physical Fitness and Sports, Nagoya University (1985-2001) and Professor in Osaka University of Health & Sport Sciences and Sports, Japan(2001-2008).
He published numerous research papers and books on neuromuscular control and physical education for the person with a disability. He made contributions to hosting the International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity (ISAPA 1993, Yokohama Japan), which was held for the first time in Asia. In 2003, he won an “Elly D. Friedmann Professional Contribution Award” from the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity.
He was such a fantastic scholar. May his soul rest in peace. He will be missed and will always stay close to our hearts.
