A new full-time opportunity is now open at the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) in Brisbane, Australia, for an Accredited Exercise Physiologist or Strength and Conditioning Coach to join the QAS Para Unit. The position, offered on a contract basis, includes a salary range of $99,348 to $108,192 AUD per annum, plus superannuation and leave loading. Applications close on 14 July 2025.
This role is dedicated to supporting the development of athletes on the Paralympic pathway, from emerging talent to elite performers. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs that address the specific physical and physiological needs of para-athletes across both Summer and Winter sports.
Key responsibilities include:

Delivering evidence-based training, performance testing, and monitoring aligned with each athlete’s Individual Performance Plan and the What It Takes to Win (WITTW) framework.

Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary performance support team and engaging in the athletes’ daily training environment.

Liaising with stakeholders such as Paralympics Australia and national/state sport organizations to align service delivery and share knowledge.

Maintaining national standards in data collection and reporting, and contributing to applied research in strength and conditioning.
Essential qualifications include a relevant degree, Level 2 S&C Coach accreditation, First Aid and CPR certification, Working with Children clearance, and ESSA accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist. Experience in para-sport or working with athletes with impairments is highly valued.
