The International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA) shares an exciting career opportunity at Munster Technological University (MTU) for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Human Rights, Intellectual Disability, and Empowerment. This half-time position (15 months) offers a chance to contribute to the UNESCO Chair team in delivering and evaluating the EmpowerEd: Flexible Learning Pathways for Students with Intellectual Disabilities program.

This initiative is supported by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) Programme for Access to Higher Education-Phase 2, aiming to enhance course provision and inform future policy on access, participation, and success for students with intellectual disabilities in higher education.

The successful candidate will support the design, implementation, and assessment of educational programs focused on human rights, advocacy, self-representation, and mentorship skill development for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The role also includes conducting primary and secondary research, applying participatory research methods, and reporting findings to inform policy and best practices.

Applicants must hold a relevant undergraduate and postgraduate degree at the PhD or equivalent level, with expertise in human rights, intellectual disability, empowerment, and inclusive research. Strong communication skills and experience in research with individuals with intellectual disabilities are essential.

The position is based at the MTU Kerry North Campus, with occasional travel to the Cork Campus. The salary is €22,423 per year (half-time, 17.5 hours per week).
