3-year studentship is offered at the Anglia Ruskin University regarding the project: “Establishing a sport-specific, evidence-based classification system for golfers with a vision impairment”. This PhD project aims to design a golf-specific classification system for golfers with a vision impairment and will be undertaken in collaboration with the European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA).

Through various experimental and observational research studies (e.g. literature review, survey, laboratory and/or field-based testing), this PhD project will aim to:

  1. Establish the minimum impairment criterion,
  2. Establish the number of classes necessary,
  3. Determine if a handicap system is a worthwhile addition to the system,
  4. Discover key stakeholder opinions on the new system and how they were communicated.

The successful applicant intends to start in April 2024, providing a tax-free stipend of £18,622 per annum plus tuition fees at the UK rate. Due to funding restrictions, this studentship is only available as a full-time position and to UK candidates. Project location: ARU Cambridge campus and fieldwork where appropriate.
