1- Fitness Evaluation (Paid): This position concerns health and fitness evaluation for people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Health is seeking a dedicated individual to join a team as a Fitness Evaluation Practicum Fellow. This paid position will be instrumental in evaluating the effectiveness of fitness programming to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Location: Washington, DC, or Remote. Duration: October 1, 2023 – July 31, 2024. Hours: 10-20 hours per week, up to 500 total hours. Education: Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in adapted physical activity, kinesiology, public health, epidemiology, or related field. Job Overview: As a Fitness Evaluation Practicum Fellow, the applicant will work closely with the Special Olympics International research and evaluation and fitness teams. The primary responsibilities will include supporting SO Programs in developing data collection approaches for evaluation, developing assessment tools, coordinating feasibility studies, analyzing existing data, and creating manuscripts and reports to disseminate fitness evaluations. 2- Manager, Fitness & Health in Schools: Washington, DC based role; The Manager, Fitness and Health in Schools will support the integration and implementation of Special Olympics’ health and fitness strategies in schools, including enhancing and expanding programming to support healthy behavior change among youth with and without intellectual disabilities (ID). The role will collaborate with the Unified Champion Schools (Global and North America), Early Childhood and Families, and Inclusive Health teams. 3-Specialist, Fitness: Washington, DC-based role; The Specialist, Fitness will support the implementation of Special Olympics’ fitness programming which strives to improve the health and wellness of Special Olympics athletes, Unified partners, families, caregivers, coaches, and supporters. This role will support the execution of mobile technology in fitness programming, resource development for community-based fitness programming and fitness challenges, and provide key operational and administrative support to the team of SO.
