The webinar “From Partnership to Practice: Building Collaborative Sport Research with Special Olympics Programs” will take place on May 22, 2026, from 9:00–10:00 AM EDT. The session is part of an ongoing collaboration between Special Olympics and the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity focused on strengthening inclusive and community-based research initiatives.

The webinar will examine how partnerships between researchers, universities, and Special Olympics programs can support the development of evidence-based sport opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Discussions will focus on collaborative research practices, community engagement, and the translation of research findings into practical sport settings.

Featured speakers include Roy McConkey (Ulster University), Maji Shaikh (Cape Breton University), Franziska Loetzner (Indiana University Indianapolis), and Andy Pitchford (Oregon State University). The session is intended for researchers, students, practitioners, and professionals working in adapted physical activity, disability sport, and inclusive education.
