The International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity (ISAPA) will be held in Rimini, Italy, from June 25 to 29, 2029. The announcement was made during the 2025 ISAPA edition in Tralee, Ireland. This biennial event brings together over 400 participants, including academics, researchers, and professionals in the field of Adapted Physical Activity (APA), a discipline focused on movement programmes that promote well-being and address motor challenges for individuals with specific needs.
The successful bid for the 2029 congress was led by the Department of Quality of Life Sciences at the University of Bologna’s Rimini Campus. Professor Pasqualino Maietta Latessa headed the proposal, supported by Professor Maurizio Bertollo from the University of Chieti-Pescara and President of the European Federation of Sport Psychology, and Professor Aija Klavina from the University of Riga, former President of the European Federation of Adapted Physical Activity. The team was further supported by Symposia Group, the Professional Congress Organiser for the 2029 event.
The congress will take place at the Rimini Palacongressi, marking a milestone for the city’s positioning in international academic events related to sport and movement sciences. Rimini continues to grow as a hub for international conferences, following recent successes including the European College of Sport Science congress. The announcement reinforces Italy’s top ranking in Europe and Rimini’s recognition among the top 20 Italian cities in the latest ICCA global rankings.
