As we know people with disabilities face greater barriers and are less likely to participate in sport and active recreation compared to the general population. On top of this people with disability are more likely to feel lonely and have fewer and lower quality friendships. This leads to poorer mental and physical health outcomes. The impact of COVID-19 has made this worse for many.

However, we also know that sport and active recreation provides an important social outlet and opportunity to make friends. So as sport begins to reopen in a COVID normal world it’s important that sport providers are ready to make the most of the opportunity to foster an inclusive culture that leads to genuine friendship between participants with and without disability.

To help you with this, our co-Director and founder of Inclusive Sport Design, Michael Woods has created a series of online Masterclasses featuring global inclusion experts. The first Masterclass will teach you all about creating friendships through inclusive sport and features Lisa Drennan from Merge Inclusion Consulting.
