A new research study is trying to gather field-based input from experts in adapted physical education (APE) regarding the selection, administration, and interpretation of health-related physical fitness test (HRPFT) items for students with disabilities, ages 10 to 17.
The information collected will contribute to potential refinements of the Brockport Physical Fitness Test (BPFT) and its integration into the FitnessGram health-related fitness battery. This integration aims to provide a more unified approach for teachers and other school professionals.
This collaborative study involves researchers such as Drs. Melissa Bittner (California State University, Long Beach), Andrew Pitchford (Oregon State University), Adam Pennell (Pepperdine University), Greg Welk (Iowa State University), and Kelly Laurson (Illinois State University).
If you are an expert in APE and wish to participate or have any questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Melissa Bittner at Melissa.Bittner@csulb.edu. Your input is valuable to this research effort.
