ASAPE-NAFAPA announces a new version of the Scholar Series Lecture, featuring Drs. Meghann Lloyd and Dr. Andy Tse, focusing on research on motor behavior and children with an autism spectrum disorder.

Dr. Andy Tse is a researcher and educator with a focus on motor learning and the effects of physical activity on the well-being of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). He is particularly interested in understanding the impact of physical activity on the psychological, cognitive, and physical health of children with ASD. Recently. Dr. Tse investigated the difference of the impact between cognitively engaging exercise and non-cognitively engaging exercise on cognitive functions in children with ASD. He has also initiated a new research project exploring the relationship between crawling and cognition in infants with typical development and those with ASD. In terms of administrative duties, Dr. Tse currently is the Acting Head of the Department of Health and Physical Education at the Education University of Hong Kong Treasurer of ASAPE, and Editorial Board member of the Journal of Motor Learning and Development.

Dr. Meghann Lloyd earned a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) degree from Acadia University and a Master of Arts degree from McGill University. She completed her PhD at the University of Michigan in the Division of Kinesiology. She joined Ontario Tech University in 2010 and is also a Senior Research Associate at Grandview Children’s Centre. Dr. Lloyd’s research is focused on the motor development, physical activity, and health of children, youth, and adults with disabilities, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and Cerebral Palsy.
