Dr. Chunxiao Li discovered his passion and enthusiasm for the field of adapted physical activity during his undergraduate training. After receiving his PhD from Nanyang Technical University in Singapore, he returned to the Education University of Hong Kong as a faculty member for several years. In late 2018, he accepted a position as an assistant professor with Nanyang Technological University. During his tenure as a faculty member at both universities, Dr. Li has taught courses related to adapted physical activity, and conducted numerous workshops for in-service physical educators on how to include children with disabilities into general physical education classes.

Dr. Li’s research primarily focuses on teacher training for inclusive physical education, talent development environments, and mindfulness, and is heavily informed by educational psychological theory. Dr. Li has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, and 80% of which as a first author. Many of these studies are in high ranking journals, including Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly, Psychology of Sport and Exercise, and Journal of Sport Sciences, and have been supported by external funding. In addition to his teaching and scholarly output, Dr. Li has been active in providing service to the field. For example, he is currently a board member of the Asian Society for Adapted Physical Education
