A Pilot Randomised Controlled Trial to Enhance Well-Being and Performance of Athletes in Para Sports

Existing mindfulness and acceptance-commitment programs in elite sport have ignored elite athletes with a physical disability. A pilot randomised controlled trial was conducted to determine if an eight-session mindfulness-acceptance-commitment program delivered within a motivational interviewing framework would enhance well-being in Para-Sport athletes. Social Learning among Transplant Event Volunteers

Volunteering in adapted sports competitions has not been studied as much as in other competitions. Survey data from volunteers in a supportive role at the European Transplant Sport Week 2016 in Finland were analysed to report the way involvement in the event increased knowledge of transplantation. Through social learning theory, the aim of the study was to report the associations between changes in knowledge, training and volunteering experience of supportive role volunteers. The relationship between sprint speed and sprint motion in amputee soccer players

Sprint performance plays an important role in amputee soccer. Sprint motion such as step length and frequency are generally accepted as one of the determining factors of sprint performance. However, there is a paucity of sprint motion studies. Here we sought to analyze sprint motion in outfield positioned amputee soccer players using crutches and to clarify the relationship between sprint speed and sprint motion. The widespread use and influential impact of social media has made it increasingly important to analyze the social norms and discourses that are being presented and promoted among social media users. Thus, the purpose of this study was to examine whether the conversation and images associated with #amputeefitness on Instagram promoted the medical model discourse (i.e., a focus on aesthetic) or the social model of disability discourse (i.e., a focus on adapted physical activity). Many children with disabilities face the risk of illness by being excluded from physical education. The purpose of this article is to investigate an open collaborative innovation that can contribute to more inclusive elements in physical education, resulting in a better quality of education for children and youths with a disability.
